Message from President Elect
As we begin to wrap up our 07-08 year, I wanted to take a moment to thank everyone for being involved with our chapter. Whether you attended one luncheon or all of our programming this year, it is your support that keeps us going. We have had a year of record highs and expect this trend to continue moving into next year.
I would also like to take the time to say a huge THANK YOU to our board and volunteers. I must say that I have been involved on our board since 2004 and this has truly been one of the best groups of people that I have ever worked with. Managing a chapter our size is quite a challenge, but our team has stepped up to the plate again and again.
While you are out enjoying the sun (hopefully) on the afternoon of June 6th, our incoming board will take part in our Summer Board Retreat (not really a retreat, just a better name for planning session.. but don’t tell them that). This will be the first opportunity for the incoming board to discuss our objectives and draft our chapter plan.
If you would like to get involved on a board or volunteer level, we still have opportunities available. Just let me know and we will get you dialed in.
Hope to see you at our June events!
Sincerely,
chylon.pappas@henryvevents.com |

Editor's Note
Welcome to early Summer fair readers!
This issue of the AMA Oregon e-Newsletter will be my last as Editor.
It was my goal when I took on the responsibility as Editor to give to each of you more than Announcements for upcoming AMA events. I hoped the Newsletter would act as a living conduit from the past of the AMA and its members into its future. To accomplish this goal I tried to include follow up articles for the previous month's activities along with the Announcements for the activities yet to come. I also tried to familiarize the whole of the organization with the many engagements of the Board of Directors. Here, I think of the articles last Fall showcasing the AMA's volunteerism with local non-profits. During the Winter and early Spring, we all benfited from the activism of Eddy Ong, President of the AMA student chapter at Portland State University, in giving us reports of our collegiate members, particularly the Golf Tournament.
I know that all of your blessings will go to my successor. Please give that individual all of your cooperation, as well.
Enjoy

Field Report from the Microsoft Vision to Venture Conference
by Michael Thompson of Market Accelerators
On Friday, May 16, 2008, I was lucky enough to spend the day with over 450 women entrepreneurs at the Microsoft's Vision to Venture Conference in Redmond, Washington.
You might wonder what a man was doing at a women’s conference. My presence there was in support of John Jantsch, the founder of Duct Tape Marketing who was one of the main speakers. I am part of the Duct Tape Marketing network of business coaches and we help entrepreneurs and other small businesses who are frustrated with their marketing. I have to say it was pretty impressive to see so many women passionate about their businesses.
Since returning, myself and Matthew Scott, another Duct Tape Marketing coach, have been asking ourselves what we learned.
