2007
Chapter of Excellence Award Competition
Your Chance to get Involved !

Now is the time of the year when your Oregon Chapter of the AMA gears up to prepare its application to the national AMA Chapter Excellence Award competition. Every year, in August, CEA applications are gathered from around the country in Chicago to be judged on the excellence of each Chapter's leadership, programming and membership performance during the proceeding year. Winning Chapters receive $2,000 cash awards.

Our own Oregon Chapter was the top winner in the very first CEA competition in 1973-74. We have not won even once since. This year we're aiming to change that!

The physical application object is a 2” ring binder. Points are also assigned on how creatively the application is presented. We're doing extra this year by including a DVD highlighting the year's activities.

We're asking for volunteers to

1. Collect data and collateral for the binder (2 volunteers needed)

2. Work on the DVD presentation (3 volunteers needed)

3. Final proofreading (2 volunteers needed)

Here's a chance to:

  • Expand your marketing prowess in an exciting competition
  • Meet fellow marketeers
  • Enjoy free beer at all work parties

If you want to be part of the team that gets your AMA Chapter over the top of the Chapter Excellence Awards, please contact me, Susan Federici, at susan@federicibusiness.com.

President’s Message
I can’t believe it’s already May! Spring in the Pacific Northwest is beautiful and everyone’s demeanor and attitude always seem to pick up an extra bounce. May also means time for American Marketing Association Oregon’s annual conference. Brooks Gilley, Shelly Yule, Chylon Pappas and their dynamite Forward 07 conference team have a real treat in store this year as we explore facets of creative innovation and sustainability. Our venue, the Portland Armory Theater, is sure to sell out.

We still have six opportunities left for display space. If you want to have your company’s message exposed to a dynamic group of local and national thought leaders, please contact me right away – 503-546-9811 or KHohnbaum@PortlandTribune.com. This is a rare opportunity to be recognized as a leader in your market.

See you on May 25th at the conference!
