Eric Gregg
AMA President

Through our research, we have heard over and over from our members how much they value the time and opportunity to network and get to know their colleagues throughout the region.  I personally can credit AMA-Oregon with leading me to a number of my business mentors, personal friends and cherished business contacts.

President’s Message

"Individual commitment to a group effort - that is what makes a team work, a company work, a society work, a civilization work." – Vince Lombardi, legendary football coach.

The themes of collaboration, commitment and community have been recurring throughout the past two years within AMA-Oregon.  While the organization delivers significant value through professional and business development opportunities, I often think the most valuable thing we offer is a community of like-minded marketers – committed to furthering their careers and their profession.

Through our research, we have heard over and over from our members how much they value the time and opportunity to network and get to know their colleagues throughout the region.  I personally can credit AMA-Oregon with leading me to a number of my business mentors, personal friends and cherished business contacts.

In response to these requests, we’ve developed a member’s only AMA-Oregon LinkedIn group.  If you are already an AMA-Oregon member, join the group by clicking here.  If not, join the AMA community and make the LinkedIn group your first step at collaboration with marketing leaders from Portland and Southwest Washington.

Even better, join us on May 22 for Forward 08: Nontraditional Marketing goes Mainstream – our annual conference bringing together national thought leaders such as Andy Sernovitz, author of Word of Mouth Marketing and local marketers for discussions surrounding the role of nontraditional marketing in your communication strategy.

I thank you for your involvement in the AMA community.  A community is only as strong as the commitment displayed by its members – a characteristic that AMA members display in spades.  Please don’t hesitate to contact me directly at egregg@inavero.com, if I can be of any assistance in helping you engage the community.

Best –

Eric Gregg

Early in June, the incoming Board of Directors is going to gather for a retreat to plan the vision for the
2008-2009 year.

Editor's Note

It's May!  It's the time for so many organizations to stage their annual conferences and to begin contemplating next year's programming in June.  AMA Oregon is no exception.  Our annual conference, Forward 2008, is coming to us on May 22nd at the elegant Portland Art Museum.  Early in June, the incoming Board of Directors is going to gather for a retreat to plan for the 2008-2009 program year.

While now is a time of happy anticipation, there is still comfort in a few things that are recurring and reliable.  The monthly Sponsor Spotlight feature article is back with a great look at Platinum Sponsor OakTree Digital.  Read the article to learn how OakTree Digital has made it easier for all Oregonians to vote.

Every Spring, there is also a national Membership Campaign.  Correspondingly, this month's Newsletter carries an announcement describing the perks of joining the AMA now.

The sun's out beckoning us all to bright and rewarding experiences with AMA Oregon this month!

Enjoy

Annual AMA Oregon Conference
Nontraditional Marketing Goes Mainstream

Amidst the cacophony of 5,000 messages a day screaming at every consumer, what does it take to be heard? To be meaningful. Memorable. Resonant.

Some might say it’s the quiet voice, the one that you didn’t expect to hear. The voice that speaks to you, not at you. That speaks to the part of you that still believes that even a business can kick through the box and inspire.

At Forward 08, you’ll hear from Andy Sernovitz on how to turn one voice into a sea of harmonious voices; Mrinal Desai- who will share how what started out as a whisper at LinkedIn turned into a fervent roar; and panelists who disassembled, reinvented (with duct-tape), broke free from and skateboarded over the box. As you leave the conference, ask yourself -What will you do with your box when you’re done with it?
