Software developers are often cast as engineers spending countless hours sitting behind a screen and writing code, but in reality the successful development of new high-tech products has as much to do with effective planning as it does with the positioning of computer chips. Between the actual creation and the selling of the product, there are two distinct industry disciplines known as “product management” and “product marketing.” And now, for those individuals already in high technology as well as those in career transitions, a new course is available to make sense of how these two critical functions interrelate and how they help create a software product for the market.

Young Professionals of Portland was established in 2004 to provide a place where young professionals can connect with other young professionals.
There will be no sales pitches and no boring seminars.
This will be a time to meet other young professionals that are interested in meeting new people and furthering their careers. Young Professionals of Portland meets every month at a local hot spot. Our meeting schedule is: Last Tuesdays at 5:30pm.
There are over 2543 people in the YPOP distribution list and we generally see 350 - 450 people at each event.
How old is young? We don't really care, but if you are active and passionate about business then you should swing by for a drink or two!
There is no membership fee of any sort. This is just social.
There is no structured format for these events. Come as you are and enjoy.

Registration is required, and includes two drink tickets, heavy hors d'oeuvres, and the annual Top Projects Awards magazine.
The NorthWest chapter won the MRA's National 2007 Best Educational Offering by a Chapter award for our annual spring education event in Portland. This year's event will be even bigger and better! The full day event includes lunch and will be followed by a social networking mixer.
Sessions include guest speakers both inside and outside of the industry, including two moderated panel discussions.
Dozer Day is a kid-friendly fair-like event where the rides are dozers, dump trucks andother heavy equipment. With a professional, licensed driver at their side, kids have a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to
drive a big yellow bulldozer, backhoe, loader and other pieces of heavy equipment. It’s a dream come true for kids — and great fun for the whole family! The event is now organized by the Nutter Foundation; however, the event continues to benefit the Parks Foundation and is expanding to further benefit other non-profit organizations.
